Save Pulpit Rock

Save Pulpit Rock

The Issue

Pulpit rock is located right off of Rt. 61 by the Berks Count and Schuylkill County line in Pennsylvania right on the Appalachian trail. Pulpit Rock was a beautiful location that hikers and local citizens used to take a swimming break or just simply enjoy nature. However, lately the rock has been covered with graffiti, and the ground is constantly covered with trash. This is because every weekend some teenagers have partied at the rock, and left their beer cans and other trash lay on the ground. Not only were they getting drunk, but they were also using illegal drugs. Another sad fact is that while these teenagers were getting drunk at their party in the woods, they would stand on the top of the rock itself, and jump off of the rock into the river below and of course they would hit their head off of the bottom of the river itself and end up killing them selves. Then finally, this spot also is not adequate for cars parking on the side of the road, since it creates a hazard to the other people driving on Port Clinton Avenue. That is why the borough has posted no parking signs and placed giant rocks to the side of the road. Help me save this land from the graffiti and the trash. In addition, help me save these teenagers from endangering themselves from underage drinking and drugs. This can be done by having more local officers patrol the land during weekend nights and during hot summer days for illegal activities and to declare this spot a state park, which will allow us to clean up the graffiti and trash and to assure it will not come back.
