Provide Android 4.0 for the Galaxy I9000 and I9001

The Issue

The Samsung Galaxy S was a flagship phone on it's release in July 2010 and has received regular updates (at the time of writing to 2.3.6), via their Kies software. Recently Samsung released a statement detailing which devices would be updated to Android 4.0, the two glaring omissions were the I9000 and the 6-month-old I9001.

Many owners of these phones (especially the I9001) may still be part-way through their contracts, to remove support after 18 months (or 6 months in the case of the I9001) leaves these users with no upgrade path. The I9000 is a perfectly capable phone, in many ways it's almost identical to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus S which is has already started to receive the ICS update.
