The Issue
Dear friends, family, and colleagues,
The groundbreaking was a huge success on July 22, 2020 and I was so proud to be there! We need your continued and growing support. The Grand Opening held July 1, 2021, was even better! To get to the now planned first step of a 385+ room expanded resort with 2000+ total games we expect to be moving well along into 2030. With your support, we will achieve 200+ full dealer table games (in our future), the international entertainment center and stages, a new Catawba Museum, spa, 11 restaurants and 11 bars onsite, and more! I think you are pleased with all of the new housing starts, shops, and restaurants that have opened. The Catawba Gaming Commission has done an admirable and honest job.
Don't think that Top Golf, Maggiano's, or Cheesecake Factory can't open here by the interstate - don't kid yourself that a major waterpark cannot open. New car plazas with gas stations and a new outlet mall will also be available, along with our Westworld-like Colonial resort nearby, https://www.arwlhc.com, soon.
Since the Catawba Nation helped us win the Revolutionary War and sided with the Patriots (the Cherokee sided with the British to prevent and stop America from forming), and this is proven by science and the Federal government to be part of their original land (Cleveland County), I hope that others supporting the thousands of new jobs in the two-state region of NC and SC will also sign this petition (expected totality of 4000+ in our region due to other businesses). We could sure use your help creating even more jobs and opportunities in this area. This will also help build new curricula of study at the college level (in SC and NC) in hospitality, hotel management, travel, spa therapies, security, maintenance, HVAC, electrical, robotics, casino operations, plumbing, tourism, and culinary arts. Our children deserve hope and the opportunity to study new fields of professional work that have never been offered at our colleges and universities.
I myself had to drive 2+ hours each night to attend college full-time in Charlotte under the Post-9/11 GI Bill. I graduated Summa Cum Laude, but it was daunting and difficult while working full-time and raising an infant. Many of our families struggle in this oasis region, hoping for increased opportunity. The Catawba Nation has been our friend for hundreds of years. As a 30-year, retired veteran, I wish for my children, grandchildren, and community. I know you do also.
