The S.S. Badger is the ONLY coal-powered ferry in the USA. They are trying to get a 5-year extension to continue this polluting practice and they claim upgrading is not "cost-effective." Translation: They don't want to spend money to do what's right for the environment and the clarity and cleanliness of Lake Michigan.

What's worse, they claim that other companies are able to dump toxic chemicals 10x what they do into the lake. Does this make it OK? We should be petitioning for all of them to stop and we shouldn't use any products or services until these companies become environmentally responsible.

Until they stop, your alternative is the diesel-powered Lake Express from Milwaukee to Muskegon.
