Restore the constitution act of 2007, now
Restore the constitution act of 2007, now
The Issue
After the tragic terrorist attacks of 9-11-01, both the White House and Congress acted vigorously to combat this menace to American life. But, grievous errors were made in the response, and one of the worst was the Military Commissions Act and consequent denial of basic justice rights to people seized as enemies. This led to the hideously unAmerican prison at Guantanamo, and the bad treatment and lack of justice that has made Guantanamo a worldwide symbol for inhumane treatment of prisoners. The world no longer sees America as the shining beacon of justice. Congress now has a golden chance to rectify this terrible error, and revise the MCA to conform to American guarantees of due process.
