The Republicans get to claim that 6 more months of unemployment insurance is more than we can afford and that despite the bailout and stimulus program our economy is in the hole.

The bailout, is not a drop in the bucket compared to $34 billion for people who would actually spend the money instead of using it for acquisitons, as the big banks have done with taxpayer funds.

The recent financial crisis triggered the nation's worst recession since the Great Depression and while the president embraced the GOP strategy along with the failures of the bailouts and the cost of two wars, the reform bill should have included stronger reforms to prevent another such crisis.  I know the president will have a great explantion.
