The current rating system is subject to abuse by the exclusive members of the MPAA, namely Disney, Fox, Paramount, Sony, Time Warner and Universal. Independent filmmakers may have ratings unfairly or arbitrarily applied to their work. This is a well documented issue, as seen in the 2006 documentary, This Film Is Not Yet Rated. To ensure a consistently applied and helpful film rating system, it should be run by the FCC.
