Indiana boaters pay approximately $3.7 annually in Lake and River Enhancment fees.  As required by Indiana code, these fees are to be used for water quality improvement projects and marine law enforcement - and they are not to revert to the general fund. In 2010, citing unprecdented fiscal crisis, those fees were illegally diverted to the general fund. This petition request that State legislators replace the 2010 funds and insure that future fees are used as required by Indiana Code.
