I realize that the economy is doing poor and a lot of people are out of work, but is it really necessary to have a full background check, that goes back more than 5-10 years ? When I was 17 years, old 14 years ago, I unfortunately got into trouble with the law and committed a felony and now more than ever it is very difficult to find work to support my family. I ended up doing 13 months in prison and was released early on good behavior. Since then I have stayed out of trouble and have been a model citizen. I have not broke any laws for 14 years and I still have a tarnished background.
I believe the justice system needs to revise laws on criminal background checks. This should not apply to violent crimes, sex offenders, or people who just are getting out of jail. This should apply to people who have stayed out of trouble for at least 5 -10 years. If they have paid there debt to society, by doing there time, then they should be treated like everyone else. Everyone makes mistakes in there life, and there's no reason they should pay for them there whole life. If you feel the same, then please write a message to be sent to congress. We need to change the way these unfair laws still effect everyday people like you and I. We need to protect our freedom to be equal !
