Mass unsubscribe from r/politics subreddit on May 1
The Issue
I like reddit a bunch, r/politics included
Recently, though it has come to light that certain mods of reddit have essentially become power users, abusing the strength they wield and the seemingly unlimited free time they have to dominate the conversation within their subreddits turning their communities into soapboxes.
r/politics is a particularly egregious example, as it is a default sub from which many casual users and lurkers and others glean their information on current U.S. events.
Let us no more accept the inferior status quo, let us not go quietly into the comments section with our legitimate complaints up voted yet deleted or ignored, leaving us without recourse against the intractable control wielded by the moderators.
Let us not be complacent, let us stand as one community cares about itself enough to know when the time has come to say, "WE HAVE HAD IT WITH YOUR FUCKING BULLSHIT, YOU WEAK-HEARTED MODS WHO QUIETLY CORRODE OUR COMMUNITY! YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, AND WE KNOW WHAT YOU ARE, AND WE WILL NOT LET IT HAPPEN BECAUSE WE CARE ABOUT THIS SITE AND THIS IS OUR CHANCE TO TAKE A STAND!"
Let us pour our numbers to the other subs, and let one of them rise until power users usurp the mod positions and take advantage of the masses, and let us know then what we know now and kick those fuckers to the curb, too.
Because this shouldn't be the face reddit shows to new subscribers. I won't settle for being gamed, and I hope you won't either. (Yeah, I know it's the internet, we're getting gamed one way or another)
This is not a witch hunt. This is a cleansing.
