Rayse Of Hope: Freedom of Access & Mobility For Guide Dogs
The Issue
Guide Dogs are like the eyes to the blind and taking them away or asking both of owner and guide dog to leave the premise shows how much Singaporeans is lackng behind about the use of guide dogs. With your support, We hope that Singaporeans can be more tolerant and understanding towards Guide Dogs in Singapore.
As part of Citi-YMCA Youth for Causes 2012, our group, Rayse of Hope, will be collaborating with the Guide Dogs Association of the Blind (GDAB) to help spread and instill awareness by telling everyone that "In Darkness, a ray of hope gives us life”. This is to encourage public to be in the shoe of the visually impaired and not to take things for granted. We hope to embolden Singaporeans to believe in whatever they do and not to give up so easily.
The purpose of the project is to raise funds from the proposed activities which will eventually be donated and channeled directly to GDAB. We hope to raise more awareness on the plight of guide dogs in Singapore as there are still cases where the guide dogs and their visually impaired owners are rejected in places like shopping centers and coffee shops .Our aim is to help these guide dogs more freedom & access to public areas without having to go through too many red tapes In order to achieve these objectives, we will be conducting Mass-Blindfold walkathon cum Awareness Carnival which will emphasize in accordance to our objective. .The blindfolds will be one of the main items for this project and it symbolizes ‘HOPE’ to our project, tying in perfectly with our group name, Rayse of Hope, and in accordance to GDAB and team’s objective.
“Hope” [həʊp] N.; it is a wish or desire accompanied by confident expectation of its fulfillment, is our goals that we wish to instill in everyone.
