One Summer Plus and One Summer Chicago are programs funded by the City of Chicago that are targeted at youth in high school. These programs teach youth to work well with others, deal with their emotions, and think before they act--all the while providing them with some income.

The most important thing these programs do is help reduce violence in Chicago. Violent crime arrests were reduced by as much as 51% for students that participated in the program, as found by University of Chicago's Crime Lab.In 2012, the One Summer Plus program had 700 participants. In 2013, it was increased to 1,000 participants.

Because the program has proven to be effective, and because violence is an epidemic in Chicago, we are asking that One Summer Plus be expanded to include all youth in high-violence areas in Chicago, and for One Summer Chicago to offer a job to all applicants.
