Revoke Qatar's 2022 World Cup privilege.
The Issue
The World Cup or FIFA World Cup, is an international football competition organized by FIFA. It's a widely celebrated sports event that is cherished by people from all across the globe to come together and enjoy what they love and worship, football. For a country to be able to host 'The World Cup', it is of the highest honor and a privilege to be able to do so. It's the duty of the country and FIFA itself to uphold FIFA's mission, "We see it as our mission to contribute towards building a better future for the world...promote it globally in the light of its unifying, educational, cultural and humanitarian values..."(Fifa Website). And especially, "We use the power of football as a tool for social and human development, by strengthening the work of dozens of initiatives around the globe to support local communities in the areas of peacebuilding, health, social integration, education and more."(Fifa Website). This is the exact OPPOSITE of what Qatar has been DOING and ALLOWING, they have tarnished this mission and 'The World Cup'. By allowing modern day human slavery to exist, through the forms of forced labor, confiscating passports, denying basic human NEEDS, EXPLOITATION. The list is endless and these evil acts have resulted in the DEATH of almost a 1000 people. These poor migrant workers come from impoverished countries who come in search of work to provide for their families through the form of honest work. From countries like, "964 from Nepal, India and Bangladesh in 2012 and 2013" (The Guardian). A 1000 TOO many. How can we, the human race, allow such monstrous activities to occur? What kind of message are we sending the world, that it's okay to exploit people because your financially privileged? If we continue to allow this, we are no better than the people committing these disgusting and dishonorable criminal activities. So I ask you, my fellow human begins, as a friend to put an end to this; and before you decide, think how'd you feel if your family members died working in a foreign country because of greed and evil.
