A Starving Dog is Not Art Petition Wall

In 2007, Guillermo Vargas tied a stray, starving dog to a rope and called it an art exhibit.

The emaciated, weak dog soon died-- widely suspected of being starved to death in the name of art.

Now, Vargas has been invited to recreate his exhibit at the Arts Biennial of Central America.

Animal abuse in the name of art cannot be tolerated. Sign the petition to help send a strong message to the committee that a starving, helpless, homeless dog is NOT art!

In 2007 artist Guillermo Vargas took a stray dog from the streets of Nicaragua, and tied it to a short leash in an art gallery, titling his exhibit "Eres Lo Que Lees" ("You Are What You Read"). The dog was tied to a wall by a length of rope in a room full of standing people, with the title of the exhibit written on the wall in dog food. The dog soon died-- it is unclear whether the dog died from starvation (the art gallery claims it was attacked by other dogs), but irrespective, no animal should be subject to this type of torture in the name of art.

Worse yet, the Arts Biennial of Central America has invited Vargas to repeat this cruelty . Make your voice heard! Hungry, helpless, homeless animals are NOT to be abused!.
