Protest institutionalized discrimination paid for by taxpayers’ dollars
The Issue
Funding for schools generally comes from local communities and each individual state.
All public schools are supported by local and state taxes.
Private and parochial (religious) schools are usually funded by private funds. However, there are some parochial and private schools which receive some funding from local communities as well as from the state. Such funding may include allowing students of private schools to use public school transportation, or perhaps an individual state provides these children with vouchers (a monetary stipend) which is then used to help pay for their schooling at these private institutions.
If parochial and private schools receive public funding, then these schools should be required to accept any student, financially able to pay the schools’ tuition, who wishes to attend that parochial or private school.
Too frequently children of divorced or same-gender parents, or children who identify as lesbian, gay, or transgender become the victims of a certain philosophy or dogma of a parochial or private school. Once discovered and identified, these children by no fault of their own are expelled and told that they can never return.
Institutionalized discrimination must NOT be supported with taxpayers’ money.
