In its maintenance of the Shark Park Golf Course, the city of San Francisco has violated the Endangered Species Act by harming and killing threatened red-legged frogs and San Francisco garter snakes.
In response, a collection of six conservation groups, including The Sierra Club, Sequoia Audubon, Wild Equity Institute and Center for Biological Diversity, have filed suit.
Their cause deserves our support.
Protect Endangered Species at the Sharp Park Golf Course
Greetings,
We support the efforts of environmental groups to close down the Sharp Park Golf Course and protect sensitive wetlands and threatened red-legged frogs and San Francisco garter snakes.
While the city has said it is committed to environmental conservation, its actions prove otherwise. In draining adjacent ponds, countless red-legged frogs and San Francisco garter snakes have been harmed or outright killed, a direct violation of the Endangered Species Act. A plan to privatize the golf course and reconstruct its flooded portions would further put these species at risk.
Please consider the concerns of the groups that filed suit--and this time, actually commit to the environment.
