In support of wonderful legislation now in the committee, specifically HR 1475 and HR 61, which would begin the changes need in our criminal justice system. Specifically, prison reform is needed to stop the drain on our economy, end extended sentences for non-violent offenders and stop the over crowding of our prison system.

Please take a moment to review HR 1475 (the "good time" bill) and HR 61. We urge your support and co-sponsorship to begin the much needed overhaul of our prison system. For too long, we the tax payers have been burdened by extended prison sentences for individuals who are not a threat to society. We are incarcerating too large a number of our citizens, the result not in anyway benefiting our society. Please stop prison overcrowding and show the currently incarcerated individuals that if they are willing to change their lives, we are willing to give them a chance.
