Women's health is at the heart of all MDGs.

In Africa and South Asia, complications during pregnancy and childbirth are the leading cause of death for women of childbearing age.

New data released in September 2010, shows a 34% reduction in global maternal death rates since 1990.  With just 5 years left to achieve the MDGs, we still have a long way to go to reach the global target of 75% reduction in maternal death.

Sign this petition urging President Obama to put MDG 5 and women's health at the heart of the U.S. government's global priorities over the next five years.

We can live in a healthy world where no woman dies giving life, but it will require firm commitments from our world leaders.  Help ensure continued progress to improve maternal health care now.

Ask the Obama Administration to affirm U.S support for universal access to maternal & reproductive healthcare globally.

We can End Global Poverty By 2015.

Prioritize Maternal Health Now

Dear President Obama,

Ten years ago, the U.S. along with 187 governments worldwide promised to achieve the MDGs by the year 2015. MDG5 – to improve maternal health- is at the heart of all Millennium Development Goals. We’ve seen a 34% reduction in maternal deaths since 1990, and we need you to increase the U.S. commitment to ensuring that no woman dies giving life.

We urge you to put women’s health and MDG 5 – at the heart of U.S. government’s global priorities over the next 5 years. When women are healthy and survive, communities thrive.
