Put a stop do Live Animal Export once and for all!

The issue

On 30 May 2011 ABC's Four Corners aired their report on how Australian cattle have been mistreated and slaughtered in the most barbaric way in abbattoirs all around Indonesia http://www.abc.net.au/4corners/special_eds/20110530/cattle/ . The Labor government put a stop to live export to Indonesia. This is NOT enough! Live Animal Export has to be stopped completely, to ANY nation that is mistreating these animals! The newest report comes out of Mauritius where Australian cattle have been brutally roped at the neck and pulled off a small livestock truck without a ramp, then dragged on the ground of a feedlot by more than seven men during the festival of sacrifice in October on Mauritius (http://www.watoday.com.au/national/new-video-of-australian-animals-being-mistreated-in-mauritius-alarms-activists-20131107-2x4i1.html

One bull's horn was broken when it was forced off the truck while another had water thrown over it to make it stand up. The bulls were hog-tied, including one that had its two front legs stamped on before six men held it down while another slaughtered the bull after two attempts to slash its throat.

People have to open their eyes to this cruelty and realise that we have to do something to help end the suffering these animals endure.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott was quoted saying that the existing system is designed to ensure that animals are not mistreated. This is unfortunately not the truth as can be seen in the Four Corners report from 2011 and in the newest one from October this year!

Please sign this petition which is addressed to our Prime Minister Tony Abott and the Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce to make a stand and do the right thing by the animals. It doesn't take much but it will do a lot of good!
