Korean women who were used as sex slaves by the Japanese army are still alive. They make a weekly protest in front of the Japanese embassy in Korea, yet the Japanese government still have not owned up to this injustice nor made any form of financial compensation. There are only 63 surviving Comfort Women left. They need to die in peace, knowing that justice was served.
These women were kidnapped and tricked from their home and forced to have sex with soldiers in the Japanese army. Some of them lost their ability to have children and all of them bore tremendous emotional scars.
Germany pays a lifetime pension to Holocaust survivors. Japan should do at least something resembling this and
1. acknowledge what happened by creating a memorial to these women
2. compensate surviving women or their surviving relatives an amount that is respectable and acceptable in this day and age (at least 1 million dollars per woman, that's still only 93 million dollars).
3. punish any surviving persons responsible for these crimes and remove them from public office
To apologize to Comfort Women and provide compensation to them
Greetings,
I just signed the following petition addressed to: The Japanese Government.
