There are many components to maintaining health and wellness. Americans should be able to decide for themselves what they ingest into their bodies and have full knowledge of ingredients in our foods.

There is a trade agreement called CODEX ALIMENTARIUS that threatens this. Currently, the FDA is passing rulings to comply with CODEX ALIMENTARIUS. Again, this is a trade agreement NOT a consumer protection act. There are requirements in Codex Alimentarius such as forcing vegetables to be irradiated (taking away nutritional value in exchange for removing bacteria, rather than tackling bacteria at its source by enforcing clean farming practices). Codex will also require that some nutritional supplements become illegal while others such as vitamins will require doctor's prescriptions. We must stop this from being implemented.

Real freedom means having the freedom to control what nutrition you ingest and what types of medical treatments you undergo. It should never be the government's responsibility to restrict these things.

Codex Allimentarius

Dear Representative,

The United States currently has a legislation called DSHEA to protect CAM and nutritional supplements. Codex Allimentarius threatens DSHEA and all Americans' health freedom. All individuals should have control over the types of foods and medicines they ingest.

Codex Allimentarius threatens the very core of freedom as well as United States' sovereignty by putting the control of these things into a trade agreement. Codex Allimentarius is ONLY a trade agreement, not a consumer protection act. Its goal is to ease trade between countries by providing standards, but many of the standards it advocates will result in poor nutrition for citizens and lack of freedom to make our own health choices. Not only that, but it will make it illegal for people to even provide these things for themselves. Please prevent codex allimentarius from being implemented.
