The Jefferson Park Elementary School has been a cornerstone of my neighborhood for many years and I have felt the negative effects of this school closure.  I am very interested to see the site occupied by a tenant which will positively contribute to the Jefferson Park Neighborhood.   We need a new occupant that will teach our children, provide a community park, and contribute to our pending national historic status.

The Jefferson Park Neighborhood Association (JPNA) has been closely involved in the process of finding a new occupant for the site.  The International School of Tucson (IST), a private language immersion K-5 school, has submitted an offer to occupy the Jefferson Park Elementary School site.  The IST has proved to be a responsible partner in its current neighborhood. IST has agreed in principal to work with JPNA on matters that affect our neighborhood and we look forward to this partnership.  JPNA has recommended that the TUSD Governing Board accept IST’s offer to occupy the Jefferson Park Elementary School site, and I strongly support this recommendation.
