President of India: Ask 2 MPs&42 MLAs, charged with crimes against women,to Resign

The Issue

Crime against women has always been a live issue in India, but it acquired a totally different kind of urgency and importance after the tragic gang-rape in New Delhi. In order to ensure that this issue doesn’t get forgotten, tangible and immediate outcomes are critical.

A recent report by Association of Democratic Reforms showed how 2 MPs and 42 MLAs have been charged with crimes against women. According to the report, six MLAs admit to have been accused of rape while 36 others admit to have been charged with outraging the modesty of women, or assault.

Through this petition we are appealing to their party leaders to urge the charged MPs and MLAs to resign from their Parliament or Assemblies before this Republic Day.
