Your Excellency, President Mahama,

We write to bring to your attention the rampant washing ashore of marine mammals on the beaches of coastal communities in Ghana and particularly the Western Region. So far, about 20 marine mammals, particularly whales, have been recorded as found dead on Ghana’s shores since 2009 to October 30, 2013.  

The surge in death of the mammals is a source of worry for environmentalists and population alike considering the importance of whales maintaining the health of the marine ecosystem. The frequency of the phenomenon is an indication that something is wrong within the marine environment.

We humbly call on you as a matter of urgency to use your esteemed office to commission an investigation to ascertain the cause of death of the mammals.
