1) No long term economic benefit to the US including oil security or reducing energy cost because the pipeline is designed to help getting the tar sand oil to the open market via the Gulf of Mexico.
2) Environmental impact due to leaks or spills caused either by sabotage or design failure. It may contaminate main drinking water source by some of the states affected by the pipeline. Taxpayers may be forced to foot the bill when such event taking place.
