Animals in the Hartford,CT shelter, and many other shelters have only ten days to be adopted before being put down. In recently going through their photos of all the ones who were put down I discovered that some dogs just ran out of time, or had potential owners but needed to be quarantined for a virus at the time and then the City ordered them PTS EVEN THO THEIR WAS INTEREST IN THEM. It sickens me that these dogs only get ten days. My in-laws dog has gotten out twice and been in the pound for 3 days without our knowledge. I keep thinking what if we never found him at the right pound and he was put down because of it. I also wonder how many of these dogs owners were looking for them but just didn't make it in time. So, sign my petition for the City of Hartford, and get them to let these dogs have more of a chance at life. I cannot continue to stand by while these animals die.
