Michael Joseph Jackson stood against all social injustices - as will we

We are a private group comprised of Facebook members that was formed early in December 2009. We support the First Amendment and Freedom Of Speech and believe that the right to say what you think is a healthy part of democracy and freedom. However, we are concerned about outwardly offensive content which we have observed while browsing Facebook and appears to be proliferating at an alarming rate.

While addressing primarily derogatory content that is directed at Michael Joseph Jackson, this group has the broader vision of addressing any group that displays offensive content in their title or makes offensive commentary available through public group forums on Facebook and directed at a single person or at social groups; content that promotes prejudice, hatred and racism.

We do not support censorship, but we feel that certain content is inappropriate in a public forum and should be taken private. However, to reach our goal, it will be necessary to take action as well.

See clearly what is depicted on Facebook! These groups without any provocation whatsoever are cruel and vicious. What would provoke these groups to attack a dead man? These attacks are unwarranted and unjust; this is public slander of the worst kind! Many of these groups have taken to public displays of hate! Moreover, children and unsuspecting visitors do not need to be subjected to this. *Respectfully, utilizing material which is unsubstantiated and uncorroborated as evidence to support a claim is unethical. There is a multitude of material readily available to the masses should they wish to inform and arm themselves with what is factual.* All of this content is an utterly convoluted distortion. This is a completely negative exploitation agenda-the premise is the prime focal essence, thus being hate.


We are NOT asking them to stop their point of view-NO. We do not support censorship of any kind! We are requesting that they go private or change the title of the group and remove any outwardly offensive content-this is all! They may continue to allow people to join and carry on as usual! These groups need be mindfully respectful to all Facebook members. Should they wish the content published to remain public on Facebook, it is required that they refrain from utilizing obscene and abusive content. We subscribe to the First Amendment & Freedom of Speech statement! People do have a right to assembly; however different laws apply to different countries. Facebook has a virtual world wide scope and audience. The key here is to state that lewd, hateful and abusive commentary, titles, pictures and descriptions are not appropriate for children or anyone else that does not wish to be subjected to this sort of content.

Recently Facebook closed down a number of groups that deny the Holocaust. This was based on Facebook's Terms of Service which clearly state that hate speech and thus hate groups will not be tolerated. These groups were considered as offensive and thus hate groups. This shows actions like these are founded and will be successful.
