We ask the Miami-Dade School Board and the Village of Key Biscayne to relieve the present and projected overcrowding at KBK8 by working quickly to jointly support and fund a new building.
The Issue
KBK8 is seriously overcrowded. Our campus was designed to serve 981 students, but now has 1435. More importantly, our population is predicted to continue to grow. We need to be prepared. A new building with more classrooms, combined with renovations to existing buildings, is necessary to adequately serve our growing student population and the projected continued growth. The location of the new building, in the NE corner of the campus, would not encroach on the school's fields.
