PETITION: The Pet Safety and Protection Act, H.R. 2256

PETITION: The Pet Safety and Protection Act, H.R. 2256
The Issue
Dogs and cats are close to the hearts of the American people like family. No companion animal deserves to be used for experiments. Both the National Academy of Sciences and the National Institutes of Health have stated that random source dogs are not necessary for scientific research.
I am writing to ask that you co-sponsor H.R. 2256, the Pet Safety and Protection Act, which is currently being considered in the House of Representatives. This bill would make it illegal for research facilities to purchase dogs and cats from class B "random source" dealers such as Craigslist and other "free to good home" ads, and people STEALING pets from owners.
No one would want to learn that his or her beloved companion was used in painful experiments
Sincerely,
