Petition for CGV to Explain Themselves
Petition for CGV to Explain Themselves
The Issue
Two weeks ago on 19th January, JYJ's management agency, C-JeS, released a press release on JYJ's documentary film "The Day". The film was to be screened in 20 CGV theatres nationwide as a Valentine's Day event for fans. This film is an un-aired documentary of JYJ which was supposed to broadcasted in 2011 on QTV but was also cancelled with no clear legitimate reasons.
Both C-JeS and CGV agreed on the terms and released the press release of the film screening on 19th January. The next day, CGV sealed the agreement and sent the contract to C-JeS. On 30th January, merely ten days before the publicised and scheduled screenings, with no warning, CGV unilaterally notified C-JeS that the contract was terminated.
CGV informed C-JeS without any recourse and only via email and phone calls. In this incident, CGV has behaved irresponsibly, breaching the implicit trust of both C-JeS and potential customers. CGV claimed it's due to the matter of company's operational policies but failed to explain why they terminated the contract unilaterally rather than modify it.
As consumers, we are sick of the blocking of JYJ in South Korea, a democratic country by constitution. Overseas fans have purchased air tickets and booked accommodation to go to South Korea for the screening. This is not the first time that fans have been inconvenienced. Repeatedly, there were last minute cancellations when JYJ were scheduled to appear in public. We believe that these are no coincidences but deliberate and vindictive actions.
Please note that you can choose to keep your signature private and your details would not be made public. Please use your real name and details so that our petition is credible and representative of us. Thank you!
