Parrots, parakeets, songbirds, rabbits, ferrets, and other animals often don't even survive the perilous, exhausting, and incredibly scary transport to the store, and if they do, they are crammed inside a tiny glass cage with barely enough room to move, bright lights, and nothing to do all day. People stare at them, children knock on the glass, and dogs bark at them. When they are "sold," not adopted, they go to whomever has the available cash, not the best home. There is no screening, no follow-up. These animals' lives are nothing but misery, and they don't deserve it, and this doesn't have to happen.
