Support #StartUpInPA to Fund Start-Up Services for Aspiring Entrepreneurs
The Issue
New Pennsylvania jobs come from new Pennsylvania companies. Successful new companies are started by people with great ideas and the knowledge of how to turn those ideas into thriving businesses. The gap is connecting aspiring entrepreneurs with the knowledge they need to grow successful companies. The Pennsylvania Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) network fills this gap. The SBDC is the only statewide network in Pennsylvania with a comprehensive suite of services proven to help start new companies that are built to last and grow.
However, the financial resources necessary to support much of these services have ended. With the challenge of diminished resources, the Pennsylvania SBDC will not be able to continue to dedicate as much time and services to assisting aspiring entrepreneurs, because it is a long-term activity and the SBDCs need to meet short term impact deliverables.
Thus, the SBDCs are seeking an additional $1 million in funding to establish and deploy #StartUpInPA, a broad suite of services that will enable hundreds of new companies to be formed all across Pennsylvania and generate hundreds of new jobs. With a state investment of at least $4,047,846 in FY 2014-2015, the Pennsylvania SBDC network will be able to continue delivering these effective and needed services.
