Pass the Employee Free Choice Act

The Issue

The Employee Free Choice Act, supported by a bipartisan coalition in Congress, would enable working people to bargain for better benefits, wages and working conditions by restoring workers' freedom to choose for themselves whether to join a union.

The system for forming unions is broken. Employers facing unionization regularly intimidate employees.

Joining together in a union to bargain for health care, pensions, fair wages and better working conditions is the best opportunity working people have to get ahead.

The public strongly supports laws to make it easier to form unions and bargain.

But corporations and business associations are opposed-they don't think workers should cut into their profits.

If your member has signed on as a co-sponsor, please change the text below to thank them for their support. Ask them to actively engage other members to become co-sponsors as well. If your representative has not signed on, please tell your member of Congress that corporate power needs to be balanced by worker power.

We encourage you to alter the text and title of the message below.

Mary AcostaPetition StarterI voted as a Democrate but I would love to see a third party come to fruition. After 5 years of working for the schools, lay offs have left me unemployed. Who got the bail out? Not the working families of America. So, now maybe people will get out and take a look at the status quo and what it has done to the poor. Also, there must be health care for all and justice for all. http://www.democracynow.org/2011/4/11/dont_punish_the_poor_economist_jeffrey
