My father has been a customer of Palisades Property and Casualty Insurance Company (Plymouth Rock Insurance) for a few years now, and they recently decided to cancel our policy because we have a pit bull mutt. We rescued Crystal almost 8 years ago, and she has NEVER harmed anyone or anything. She is an amazing dog and she is very sweet and calm. The insurance company said she had a bite history, which is completely false, and then they told us they don't cover homes with pit bulls. The story kept changing, and it is time for us to take a stand! Pit bulls are not bad animals, nor is any other breed of dog. Dogs become mean because of the way they are raised. If the owner raises them to be mean, then that is how they will act. Dogs are smart animals, and it is an act of discrimination to cancel insurance simply because a family has a pit bull (and one that isn't even a full bred pitbull!!) or any other breed of dog. Homeowner insurance companies should not be allowed to end coverage because of the breed of the dog a family owns! Please sign my petition to help end the discrimination against specific animal breeds!
