Using taxpayer dollars to fund religious schools is wrong. The publicly funded Catholic school board discriminates against LGBT students by not allowing the formation of gay/straight alliances. This board also discriminates against potential employees who are made to show that they are practicing Catholics. I am strongly opposed to Catholic or any religious schools being funded with taxpayer dollars. More than 11 years ago the United Nations Human Rights Committee said that Ontario's funding of the Catholic school system was discriminatory. It's time for Ontario to do the right thing and create a public school system that embraces diversity and teaches equality.
