The Issue

Many animals have suffered while in the care of the Oleson Park "zoo" in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The roadside zoo is understaffed, underfunded, lacking education and resources to properly care for exotic animals. The "zoo" has purchased exotic animals in large quantities; put them in improper habitats, which has resulted in the animals suffering from neglect, injuries, amputations, and many have died. The zoo is managed by volunteers with no background in zoology or veterinary degrees - they are in over their heads and the animals are suffering terribly because of it. The animals in their "collection" are flea and manage infested, fly bitten and subjected to extreme heat, filth, lack of shade, little or no enrichment and lack of veterinary care, some are missing tails, feet, toes and feathers from the zoo's failure to provide quality care and proper environments for the animals to thrive in. The animals in the care of this group are at risk of meeting the same fate as the two Arctic Foxes that died after being left outside for a week in 105* heat-  with little or no shelter at the Oleson Park Zoo in July of 2012. This must end, before they purchase more animals and subject them to the same gross negligence as the other animals in the zoo have faced. There has been enough suffering and death at the Oleson Park "Zoo". Please sign today. The animals need your help.
