Ohio farmland into the Conservation Reserve

Ohio farmland into the Conservation Reserve

The Issue

This 50 acre land containing 27,000 trees, and 5 acres of wetland benefits our environment by maintaining the natural habitat which continues to allow wildlife nesting, preserves and controls soil erosion, produces Oxygen, and reduces carbon in the air (which helps control the climate changes).

The USDA Farm Service Agency is stating that my land is now ineligible for the Conservation Reserve Program, even though it was in this program for 20 years. When my contract expired, I went to the office to fill out the application to put the land back in the program. However, it was no longer in existence. The program is back now, so I am trying again, and their response is that I am not eligible now either because the land was out of the program for more than a year.
