One thousand white-tailed deer are scheduled to be killed at Valley Forge National Historical Park. The park's new management plan has called for a deer call due to an increase in the deer population.

Many Animal Rights activists and groups have spoken out against the cull. Please take a moment to support this cause and speak out against the culling of deer.

I am writing today to speak out against the white-tailed deer cull that is scheduled for Valley Forge National Historical Park. If the park's wildlife management plan has deemed that the population of deers in the park has increased to unmanageable numbers, humane alternatives to culls should strongly be considered.

Wildlife across the U.S. is suffering from unnatural population declines and numerous other problems due to human interference. If the population of deer has grown too large, it is due to the fact that the lack of habitat and vegetation to support them and the decline in natural predators that would normally prey on them is again due to human alteration.

If we are the problem, we should be the solution. Killing deer is not the answer.

Implementing management of the natural habitat, introducing deer predators to the parks, and placing the animals in farm sanctuary's are all humane alternatives to killing. If Valley Forge National Historical Park deems that their are too many deer, it is not the fault of the animals. They are trying to survive in a drastically altered and fragmented eco-system that has been rampantly raped by humans.

Please act accordingly and give alternatives to culls your most serious considerations.
