Despite your claim to favor sound environmental policies, our lands, our
seas, our water, and our air are all in trouble.  You have a golden opportunity, as you begin the middle of your first term, to make some basic policy changes to improve a dire situation; which would totally be improved by a green jobs movement.  Our pristine forests and wild areas have shrunk, and today are both small in area and endangered by exploitation.  New international agreements on protecting oceans and fish are badly needed.  US water supplies are shrinking and are often of poor quality. Our air, despite some gains in controlling diesel exhausts, is still polluted and unhealthy.
