During the recent Occupy Oakland clashes, Ahimsa Govinda Wind-Thunder was standing at the right end of where the fence was being torn down to occupy Kaiser Convention Center. The police were assaulting from both directions.  Govinda was at the 10th St. end of things. They had teargas, and he had a handful of seedpods, small brown circles, the weight of popcorn. He threw them against the teargas as a sign of protest, certainly with no intent to harm. The objects thrown were completely harmless. But the police have charged him with rock throwing. There were NO rocks anywhere around, just thousands of these little seed pods.
The police may have misunderstood the gesture, but they did not bring in any rocks as evidence. In fact, the eight indictments against him are all unsigned indictments - John Doe indictments, they are called. All citizens of this country are entitled to face their accusers. The charges are bogus. Unsigned indictments mean absolutely no injury, or contact, occurred.
However, Govinda is in Max. Security and solitary confinement 23 out of every 24 hours. He has bail set at $400,000. ($50, 000 per count). He is also charged with wearing a mask to hide his identity. He is one of 409 arrested, all but 11 released (talk about wasting tax payers money), and only four facing felonies.
Govinda is a peace-loving American citizen facing unlawful prosecution.
