NYC Dept. of Ed: Downtown Brooklyn needs an elementary school

The Issue

There is no zoned elementary school in Downtown Brooklyn. The 2004 rezoning of the neighborhood lead to the building of thousands of new residential units and thousands more are to come. In 5 years time, there will likely be upwards of 25,000 more people living here than 10 years ago. The city did not plan for the massive influx of residents and they need to do something about it now before the situation is unfixable - we need a new elementary school in Downtown Brooklyn.
