Did you know Oklahoma currently upholds a Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity statute.  If an individual is convicted of murder or any other crime for that matter, under this plea they have the possibility of being realeased in 30 days after the conviction.  This statuate stems back from the 1800's.  Even after the Hinkley trial contraversy many states revised the current law to put burden of proof on the defedant rather than the state.  Other states went as far as abolishing the plea althogether, while others changed the plea to Guility but mentally insane.  Oklahoma made no revisions.  Its time for a change.
