The severe persecution of gays is a given in Iraq, citing the reports from Iraqi LGBT, a human rights organization for gays and lesbians based in London, which documents assaults, cases of torture and murders of gay men that have occurred both in the Kurdish and Sunni communities.
"At least 600 homosexuals have been attacked and murdered since 2003," says EveryOne Group in Norway, "often after cruel torture, such as one practice that foresees that a gay man's anus is glued up with a powerful glue. After this he is given a laxative, which leads to an extremely painful death.
The international LGBT rights organizations now consider Iraq as one of the places where the persecution of gays and lesbians is most widespread and brutal".
Norway wants to deport Gay man, Azad, saying if he stays closeted he would be safe. There is no such thing as safety for a gay man in Iraq, regardless of being OUT or not!
This Petition serves to publicly OUT AZAD; hence he should not be returned to Iraq.
This Petition and the outcry it causes internationally ought to be the impetus for keeping Mr. AZAD in Norway, with political asylum. Read the story here....http://oblogdeeoblogda.wordpress.com/2011/12/29/asking-king-of-norway-to-save-azad-hassan-rasol-from-deportation-to-iraq/
Norway Stop Deportation of Gay Man Azad
Greetings,
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Norwegian Government.
----------------
Norway Stop Deportation of Gay Man Azad:
The severe persecution of gays is a given in Iraq, citing the reports from Iraqi LGBT, human rights organization for gays and lesbians based in London, which document assaults, cases of torture and murders of gay men that have occurred both in the Kurdish and Sunni communities.
Norway wants to deport Gay man, Azad , saying if he stays closeted when he is returned he would be safe.
There is no such thing as safety for a gay man in Iraq, regardless of being OUT or not!
This is shocking assumption on the part of Norway and a cruel rejection of a gay man whose life is in imminent danger if returned.
This Petition serves to publicly OUT AZAD; hence he should not be returned to Iraq, based on this public outing, alone.
This Petition and the outcry it causes internationally ought to be the impetus for keeping AZAD in Norway, with political asylum.

Mr Ambassador kindly relay this message to your Government. Gay people will not travel to Norway and will consider it a hostile country unless you can justify this cruelty against AZAD.
