No CCS in the Climate Bill

No CCS in the Climate Bill
The Issue

Did you know that Congress is considering a plan to perpetuate the same coal industry that is destroying our mountains and streams?
That's right. Exploiting the debate over global warming, Big Coal is pushing for a $10-100 billion subsidy in an elaborate scheme to somehow bury its carbon emissions into the ground. You've probably heard them calling it "clean coal."
Folks, there's no such thing. Carbon sequestration doesn't exist on a workable scale. So as Congress debates important climate change legislation, you need to let your Representative know that sequestration is a fantasy, and should be dropped from the climate bill.

Every aspect of coal is dirty. From the mountaintop removal mining that decimates entire mountains and rivers to the coal-fired power plants that put out global warming emissions and pollute our air, it's a disgusting habit - and one we need to break.
But Big Coal wants us to believe that if we just give them enough money, they can magically develop a technology to just put all that nasty CO2 back in the ground. It sounds like a fantasy, because it is.
We have real clean energy solutions to invest in - massive expansions of wind and solar power, cutting our energy use, and making our homes more efficient to name a few. We can't let them hijack the effort to stop climate change, and keep us reliant on the most polluting energy source we have.
Take a minute right now to tell Congress coal is still dirty:

And then pass this message along to your friends and family, and ask them to take part.
Thanks for your work!
