Hire Stephen Hillenburg to make another SpongeBob SquarePants movie.

The Issue

Paramount and Nickelodeon have officially announced that there will be another theatrical adaptation of SpongeBob SquarePants in the future. Although Stephen Hillenburg has left his showrunner position after doing three seasons and the movie, he didn't originally want the movie to be the series finale. The feature film was such a critical and financial success that Nickelodeon decided against cancelling the show.

After the movie came out, the future of SpongeBob was looking uncertain. Hillenburg is still credited as an executive producer but no longer manages the day-to-day production and left the show to his friend and fellow writer Paul Tibbitt, and after the fourth season aired, the show faced a major backlash as did Nickelodeon in general. There were tons of complains about how the episodes in Seasons 4-present were inferior to episodes in Seasons 1-3. Millions of fans want to see the creator return and this is the way to do it.

SpongeBob SquarePants on the big screen wouldn't be complete without Stephen Hillenburg. Paramount will release the new film in the 2014 holiday season to jump start its new animation division. It is an opportune time, however, as Paramount's recent animated film Rango has won a Best Animated Feature Oscar. Two days after that, it was announced that Paramount decided to go forward with another SpongeBob movie as the first movie for their new animation studio.

Here's proof that a new SpongeBob SquarePants movie will be made: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/viacom-paramount-release-spongebob-movie-late-2014-philippe-dauman295695
