NHL: Fine Wayne Simmonds for his homophobic slur against Sean Avery
The Issue
Wayne Simmonds of the Philadelphia Flyers used a homophobic slur against Sean Avery from the New York Rangers during their game on September 26.
When other professional athletes use this unacceptable language, they are fined by their leagues. Basketball player Kobe Bryant was fined $100,000. Joakim Noah was fined $50,000. NFL player Joey Porter of the Steelers was fined $10,000 back in 2006.
The NHL must hold Wayne Simmonds accountable for this inaceptable hate speech.
