New Yorkers: Tell Governor Cuomo to Stop The Fare Hike!

The Issue

The cost of a MetroCard is about to go up again, making your daily commute more expensive. Public transit needs to be reliable and affordable, but we're paying more for less.

This is unacceptable.

Over the past five years, New Yorkers have already endured three transit fare hikes and the worst service cuts in a generation.

- In 2007, a 30-day unlimited MetroCard cost $76.
- In 2012, a 30-day unlimited MetroCard costs $104.
- In March 2013, according to the MTA, the cost is set to skyrocket once more.

Meanwhile, the state government has stolen $260 million in what was supposed to be dedicated transit funding -- and the city hasn’t increased funding since 1992!

The MTA cannot be bailed out by selling New Yorkers out, and we can't let our transit system fall into disarray and disrepair. It’s time for the city and state to step up and invest in public transit.

Public transportation is vital to New York: It connects workers to jobs and customers to businesses, forming the backbone of our region’s economy.

There are 8.5 million daily transit riders in New York and together, we can fight for transit that is both reliable and affordable.

It’s time to tell Governor Cuomo: No more fare hikes!
