The Driver Responsibility Assessment program levies excessive fees for speeding on highways. If you accumulate 6 points or more on your driving record - e.g., going 21-30 mph over the speed limit - you are subject to the DRA which is $300 *in addition* to the ticket itself which can range from $260-$300. No one should have to pay $600 for speeding, even if it is 20-30 mph over the speed limit. Furthermore, officers are not obligated to disclose this information to drivers they ticket.
