Reassess and open closed Boat Areas

The Issue

There are many boats flipped upright from the Hurricane. DEP closed the boat areas so quickly that few people have had the chance to check their boats. These upright boats are accumulating rainwater and eventually snow. When this freezes the ice will expand damaging the aluminum hulls. Some Boat Areas still require cleanup and tree removal. But some areas a clear and do not visibly show signs of being a threat to safety. There is no reason to keep them all closed until Spring 2013. We ask that DEP conduct a reassessment to make a determination and immediately open all boat areas that are not or no longer dangerous.
