Keep fighting the good fight to prohibit devocalization of dogs and cats!

The Issue

Grassroots activists are the heart, soul and backbone of the animal protection movement. Working without funding, their only commitment is to animals, not boards and donors. Their only interest is in putting solid humane legislation on the books, not empty laws just to claim victory.

We who care about animals thank the core volunteers of New York Against Devocalization for fighting the good fight to prohibit an outrageous act of animal cruelty, cutting vocal cords just to stifle a dog's or cat's voice.

New York Against Devocalization was formed by Coalition to Protect and Rescue Pets (CPR Pets), the unfunded, all-volunteer network that led the successful campaign to ban devocalization of dogs and cats in Massachusetts in 2010. Alongside co-lead sponsor Friends of Animals and NYS shelters, rescue groups, concerned veterinarians and animal behavior experts, CPR Pets volunteers continue to demonstrate the importance of grassroots activism.

We pledge to support your ongoing efforts by getting the word out about devocalization.

We'll become informed advocates by reading your website: http://cprpets.weebly.com

And we will share our experiences, as adopters of devocalized animals or shelters and rescue groups to whom these dogs and cats have been relinquished, by contacting you at:  http://cprpets.weebly.com/contact.html

Sue PerryPetition StarterPorter, my Newfy was devocalized by a licensed experienced veterinarian at the request of his former owner, who then gave him up to a rescue group. After seeing first hand the consequences of this outrageous cruelty, I have made it my mission to expose this under the radar cruelty and put an end to it. Not only does this not benefit dogs/cats, it harms them.
